Susan Quirke of Quirke McNamara Consultancy
recently completed this mews house project in Islington where
we were brought in by a young couple who wanted to us to create a very trendy
Shoreditch vibe space using specialist lighting & modern materials.
They wanted to add a new bathroom and dressing room and QMC set about space
planning the first floor totally gutting the interior and creating a new space
with glass block curved bathroom walls, glass cladding and brick interiors
as well as designing a number of bespoke tv and storage units to fit the odd
wall shapes. We worked with a palette of greys and blacks and to highlight
the Architectural features we added feature lighting on the stone stairs, above the beams
and shining onto the beautiful brick walls.
The open-plan living room we created more of a divide between the living and kitchen area
and added a new media centre and fireplace as well as punch bag and bespoke neon sign
A new ceiling was installed to allow additional lighting to be added to the space
Overall the new space is a liveable, vibrant house where we have maximised the floor plan
and added warmth to what was a very run down, dark unloved mews.
